Burk’s Falls & Area is situated along the Highway 11 Corridor in the East Parry Sound District. Below is a summary of the distances to major markets and features:
The Greater Toronto Area (Population: 5.58 Million)
Burk’s Falls is located 250KM North of the Highway 401 interchange in Toronto. The transition from Highway 400 to Highway 11 ensures safe, efficient, multilane travel to the community.
Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is also 250KM from our doorstep which equates to an approximate 2.5 hour drive along Highways 400 and 11.
Muskoka (Population 58 000)
The District Municipality of Muskoka is home to a collection of municipalities and town centres including Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville. Huntsville is located 40KM South of Burks Falls. The Muskokas are known world-wide for their quintessential Canadian experiences and access to nature and the outdoors.
Burk’s Falls and Area are fortunate to share many of the natural characteristics that people have come to love in the Muskokas, including access to the world renowned Algonquin Park.
North Bay (Population: 51 500)
The City of North Bay lies 90KM North of Burks Falls on Highway 11. With the recent 4 lane expansion of Highway 11, travel between our community and North Bay is faster and safer.
Jack Garland Airport (YYB) is the closest airport to our community which is only a short 1 hour drive to Burk’s Falls along Highway 11. YYB is the largest airport North of Toronto, and offers domestic and limited international flights.
The Greater Sudbury Area (Population: 161 500)
The Greater Sudbury Area is located 200Km from Sudbury along Highways 11 and 17. The Greater Sudbury Area is a mecca for mining activity which between mining, and mining support and services industries provide income for over 16 000 families.
The Greater Sudbury Airport (YSB) provides domestic flights and serves as a vital connection between Northern Ontario and major Canadian markets.
Algonquin Provincial Park (Population: 0)
Just a short 25KM drive from Burk’s Falls lies the back-country entrance to the world-famous Algonquin Park. Algonquin Park is adored for it’s rugged and untouched Canadian Wilderness.
The Business Centre mission is to provide support to start-up and small enterprises during their first through fifth years of operation in Nipissing and Parry Sound by offering easy access to business consulting services and information concerning market research, business planning, management, marketing, technology and financing.
The office assists in the start-up of new and the expansion of existing businesses. Services include:

FedNor is the Government of Canada’s economic development organization for Northern Ontario. Through its programs and services, and through its financial support of projects that lead to job creation and economic growth, FedNor works with businesses and community partners to build a stronger Northern Ontario.
Small Business Loans: FedNor supports a network of 24 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Northern Ontario. These local, not-for-profit organizations provide business financing, as well as business planning and other services. For the Parry Sound District, the organizations are:

Youth Internship Program: Targets businesses that are interested in hiring a recent graduate (persons under 30 years of age) for eligible roles under the Northern Ontario Development Program or Economic Development Initiative guidelines. Funding of up to $31 500 is available to a maximum of a 50% contribution (for businesses) and 90% contribution for not for profit organizations.
Innovative Initiatives Ontario North (IION) is a Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) and a member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE); a network of strategic regional and provincial partners that deliver programs and services to help entrepreneurs and established businesses grow and succeed.

- Direction and guidance on gaining public and private capital investment, including connections to angel investor networks
- Access to market intelligence
- Connections to sector, financial and legal experts.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation Offers assistance to businesses and organizations through the delivery of several support streams and programs. These programs are delivered under the strategic direction of the Northern Ontario Growth Plan. NECO is a Community Futures Development Corporation, funded by Fednor/Industry Canada and is managed by a volunteer board of directors. NECO has been helping small business in the East Nipissing and East Parry Sound region since 1987 and has invested more than $17 million in small business loans and community projects over this period.
NECO is a regional economic development organization, which invests in, and nurtures small business, and develops partnerships with private and public sectors to create and maintain jobs in our communities.
The Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network mission is to create economic value by building information and communication technology (ICT) capacity through community partnerships.is provided with 3-year operational funding from FedNor to promote the adoption of digital and e-business applications throughout the region. Over the last eight years we have invested $1.35 million in the form grants to help more than 500 business owners take their ideas and ambitions further.
